Three Years, 1,121 Days, and Countless Cups of Coffee Later…
On July 19, 2022, I did the scariest - and most liberating - thing in my professional life: I left the comfort of a steady paycheck and benefits to start Songbird Marketing & Public Relations. If you’re wondering if I had it all figured out… let’s just say my business plan was more “Google Docs and grit” than “shiny investor deck.”
Today, I get to celebrate three years of doing what I love, on my own terms (and by “on my own,” I mean with the help of countless clients, mentors, and friends who have cheered me on and occasionally reminded me to send invoices). That’s 1,121 days of wearing every hat in the building - from strategist to copywriter to IT department - and still somehow remembering to feed the dog.
A Huge Thank You
First and foremost, to my incredible clients: you’ve trusted me with your stories, your reputations, and your dreams. You’ve let me in behind the scenes, introduced me to your teams, and—on occasion—shared your office snacks. You are the reason Songbird exists and thrives.
To my past jobs: thank you for the deadlines, the unexpected crises, the office coffee that tasted like cardboard, and the colleagues who became lifelong friends. Every role I’ve had—whether in PR, marketing, or something I thought I’d never survive—prepared me for this chapter. You taught me how to solve problems, manage people (and personalities), and occasionally put out metaphorical fires without breaking a sweat (and most likely, in heels).
Here’s to What’s Next
Songbird started as a leap of faith and has turned into the most rewarding, challenging, laugh-filled adventure of my career. I’m still learning, still growing, and still figuring out the whole “work-life balance” thing (spoiler: it’s a moving target).
To my clients, past and present—thank you for trusting me. To my colleagues and friends—thank you for pushing me. And to the next 1,121 days—bring it on.
If we haven’t worked together yet… maybe year four is our time. I promise the coffee will be strong, the ideas will be big, and the press releases will be free of fluff.
